CFSEE ... Who We Are

Arising out of the public budget forums in March of 2009 came a sentiment widely shared among Somers citizens: We all want what’s best for our kids, our schools, our community – but we’re disconnected.  There’s nothing in place currently that enables us as a whole to come together and share information, ideas, skills and resources that could help improve our schools and, ultimately, our community.

And we’re not alone.  Especially in these tough economic times, communities all across the nation are searching for ways to better connect and participate in order to strengthen their schools as well as their businesses and neighbors.

And so, a handful of citizens have come together and founded CFSEE – Citizens For Somers Educational Excellence – a think tank and facilitating group of sorts, open to any and all Somers citizens. Please join us!

Our objectives, broadly, are to:

  • Create community-wide distribution channels for the sharing of school- and community-related information;
  • Provide every citizen in Somers the opportunity and forum for voicing opinions and solutions to help improve and strengthen our schools and community;
  • Provide every citizen in Somers the opportunity to connect his or her talents and resources with existing needs/opportunities in our schools and community;
  • Research and distribute factual information that impacts our schools and community on local and state levels – primarily right now, information related to current voting and budgetary issues;
  • Work in harmony with town and school boards, representatives, administrators, teachers, employees, businesses and citizen groups to promote unity and to maximize our resources community-wide.

Out of a need to connect comes an opportunity to do so.

We hope you’ll join us.
